Now they are saying that it could cause a problem if the buses where to meet on the road………………

All bus times are different and they wouldn’t meet. My sons bus comes at 10 to four and my son that goes to highschool comes at 4pm and the french school bus comes at 15 after four………………………………………

I have recieved an email from the Ontario Federation of School and Home Association in Bramton Ontario, and I’d like to Thank you for your support in this matter and sending this website on to your board of Directors. This is why this page was setup, So I can send it along and let others know what has been going on and sending me some direction on what to do next.

I’d like to thank the Ombusman of Ontario For reading this page and calling me today and expressing to me that this must be changed and gave me some direction on what to do next. Call Gilles Bisson and I told them I did and they are told the same thing as I have been told, they are told that there has never been a bus that goes down Dorans Road. NExt they said that I need to call the City of Timmins Enginering department and find out if they did do an assesment of our road in 2001 as stated in my letter… Well I spoke to the office and they said the office has never been approached by anyone at the school board to check out our road.. And they said that there is no reason why the buses cannot come down our road to pick up the children. And they also said that the buses have always gone down our road before. They will be calling some people to clarify this and ask who deemed it Hazardous. I’d like to say THank You and I am doing this for ALL the children who have to walk to catch there buses on country roads. Who knows there must be other children that are made to walk on other country roads and they need this changed for safety issues like the Bears. The Bear issue will get worse and I am trying to get buses to come down our road AGAIN and any other road that the children have to walk, to protect a possible bear mauling of a child. And YES the buses have always Came down our road before dispite what some might say. Some of our children have to walk farther than a km to catch a bus. And the bears are up and down our road all SPRING SUMMER AND FALL! As of June 2005 the buses were STOPPED all together dispite my concerns about the bears. The French school board here in Timmins now sends a bus down Dorans Road to pick up their children. The French students used to walk 1km to catch their bus at the highway.. When the school boards were one the French children on our road had to walk for years while the other school children all got picked up at their driveways. Now that the boards have separated the French studends get picked up and the English children have to walk. Because they have a new transportation officer for the French schools.

Asked by The Ontario Ombusman to call the City of Timmins to find out if our road is hazardous and I did that.

Well I called the Enginering department to find out if there were any answers about our hazardous road. Well they are told that they were “just quoting the policy on my letter” and that the road is not hazardous and there are other issues that they have. They also state that they have no pull when it comes to the school board. Well if it isn’t the hazardous road then what is it. The buses traveling down and not being able to turn around. Really there were 4 buses turning around in peoples driveways last year and the years before. There is a transport truck turn around at the very end of our road that was made this summer for the clearing of land. They cleared it and left a large turnaround at the end of our road. Anyways there should be smaller buses sent and they had no problem turning around before and our driveway is 50 feet wide….

I would really like to know why the buses are not coming down for the children. Dispite my many concerns for the safety of our children.

I continue to email this information to the Ministry of Education every time there is an update. They asked for all information that I recieve and if I have new news then I need to send it along. The are a few more things that I am asked to do by them.

They have asked Geocities/Yahoo to shut this page down (Letter From Lawer in Toronto sent a copy to me) This website was setup for the safety of all rural route children that have to walk and by shutting it down won’t shut me up! I email everyone on this page at least once a week and I am getting so much support from everyone. Thank YOU.
